Client: JEM ASSOCIATES
(commercial kitchen designers)
Assignment: Copywriting and brochure design
JEM is a first-tier designer of kitchen facilities for casinos and restaurants, and for institutions like schools, hospitals, adult care centers, among others. JEM's work speaks for itself, but the company lacked a persuasive voice of its own.
We conducted one-hour interviews with each key designer to learn their unique perspectives. As they read these first-person accounts, prospective clients develop a feel for the company and connect with individual personalities. Instead of a faceless entity, JEM is now portrayed as a committed, dedicated team of professionals. Even though each designer's comments appear in quotes, we wrote all the copy based upon our interview notes.

Client: PAYLOCK, INC.
(parking enforcement systems)
Assignment: Copywriting and brochure design
Installing heavy parking-enforcement boots is a burden to the agency and a severe inconvenience to the unlucky driver. Paylock invented a new solution: a lightweight device with an electronic lock that could be opened by the driver.
Our challenge was to communicate the potential savings to agencies familiar with one business model and the old way of doing things. To quickly communicate the complexity of the old and the simplicity of the new, two cartoon panels were created by xplane.com following our process flows and incorporating our copy. The balance of the piece emphasizes the revolutionary benefits of the new design over the disadvantages of the old.

Client: HY-KO PRODUCTS
(keys & key-making equipment manufacturer & key retail shops)
Assignment: Copywriting and postcard design
Opening Jingles Key Centers inside of ShopRite supermarkets was a new retail venture for Hy-Ko products. Three markets (auto dealers & repair shops, realtors, and institutional) were identified for their potential as consumers of keys.
Hy-Ko gave us free-rein in creating a series of compelling "30-second" stories to target each market and draw consumers into the stores. We honed in on the pains connected with acquiring new keys felt by each consumer group, and offered the relief they would find most important. The response to the cards has been good, and mailings go out on a continuing basis as new outlets are opened.

Client: SIWEL CONSULTING
(software licensing and management consulting)
Assignment: Copywriting only
Software Asset Management (SAM) can be a nightmare for companies with hundreds or thousands of employees. Software publishers expect to be paid based on the number of users. Failing to maintain tight control on numbers and usage can either result in excess cost or penalty fines.
We were tasked with appealing to individuals at various levels of responsibility within small, medium and large organizations. We liberally seeded the copy with WIIFM (what's in it for me) references aimed at techies, managers and executives to cover all bases. The result is a cohesive, persuasive story designed to have the reader pick up the phone and call Siwel. (Note: We did not design this brochure.)

Client: RENT-DIRECT NY LANDLORDS
(no broker fee apartments)
Assignment: Copywriting & web page design
Rent-DirectLandlords.com offers landlords and building managers an inexpensive way to reach the thousands of eager apartment seekers who want to avoid paying broker's commissions. RDNY offers numerous building and apartment promotion options, depending upon the type of building.
Our initial task was communicating the variety of options and the number of ad placements in a clear, concise and coherent manner. We created new graphics and adapted the existing web pages as illustrations to accompany the new text. The job of the copy was to emphasize the value and benefits of each individual advertising product, while still managing to explain how packaged offerings worked. Some of the sample pages we created are available for viewing by clicking the link below.
